An environment where one feels safe, seen, heard, and understood is optimal for healing and growth. In my work with clients, I strive to cultivate empathy, safety, trust and collaboration. The therapy journey will often begin with an exploration of the challenges that the client would like to address as well as the context and history of these difficulties. As we continue, my aim will be for therapy to unfold in a collaborative manner in which we work together in the direction of desired goals.
Previously, in my clinical work I have conducted therapy and assessment in various settings. My approach to therapy is integrative and I draw from models including humanistic and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). At Old North Psychology, I provide therapy under supervision and work with adult clients.
I completed my MA and PhD in Clinical Psychology at York University. My overall program of research has been on couples and relationships. In my work, I have also had the privilege to focus on conducting research that has a direct and practical impact in the community. For example, for my master’s research, I co-facilitated relationship enhancement workshops for couples at York University over a span of 8 months. This research was supported by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) and the findings were presented at the 45th meeting of the Society for Psychotherapy Research in Denmark.
