In his famous novel, A Man’s Search for Meaning, Victor Frankl wrote, “I know that without the suffering, the growth that I have achieved would have been impossible.” But if suffering is inevitable, then how do we cope with it? How do we develop self-awareness and resilience in the moments of greatest distress? How do we cope when we feel hopeless and stuck? In my approach to psychotherapy, I believe that growth and healing begins with feeling heard. Only when we know that our struggles have been heard, understood, and validated, then are we willing and able to move towards a problem-solving mindset. Thus, as a therapist, my primary goal is to ensure that my clients feel heard. I assist my clients in processing their emotions, developing an understanding of their needs and obstacles, and developing a plan to achieve their goals and gain clarity about their situations. I prioritize forming strong connections, building rapport and trust, and working collaboratively with my clients to achieve their treatment goals. I take a client-centred approach in my work and style of therapy, whereby I believe that the principles of unconditional positive regard, genuineness, and empathy are the driving mechanisms for therapeutic change. My theoretical orientations are integrative, such that I borrow from various protocols and orientations, including CBT, EFT, and DBT, in order to develop a style and plan that is most fitting with my clients concerns and needs. I also have experience with trauma-focused treatments including CPT and EFT.

I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Clinical Psychology Program at Western University. I obtained my master’s degree in clinical psychology from Western University, and I received my honours bachelor’s degree in psychology from York University with Summa Cum Laude distinction. Throughout my studies, I have held various practicum positions in both the private and public sectors, including the St. Joseph’s Operational Stress Injury Clinic, the Southwest Centre for Forensic Mental Health Care, the Geriatric Mental Health Program at Victoria Hospital, and Western University’s Health and Wellness centre. I am currently working at a private practice in London, ON, where I complete comprehensive assessments and provide psychotherapy treatment to veterans, serving members of the Canadian Armed Forces, paramedics, firefighters, and injured workers. Throughout this work, I have developed a particular interest in the treatment of trauma-related disorders, and I have also gained experience with providing treatment for anxiety, depression, and interpersonal challenges.
